What is PDS?
PDS is a meeting point for a variety of local & virtual communities that are loosely connected by some common elements of the spiritual path:

• Awakening is possible
• Discussion of ones practice is fun and constructive
• Peer-led and not heirarchical
• Openness of information
• Balancing traditionalism and modern innovation

What to Expect at a PDS Meeting:
PDS is open to meditators of all skill and experience levels. In general, people who are fairly committed to practice and are serious about personal transformation will find enjoy hanging out in PDS groups. Please feel free to search the directory below for a group near you. If there are none available, you can always join one of our monthly video chats to connect over the internet with like-minded practitioners. Generally, meeting formats follow a loose pattern: we go around in a circle, introduce ourselves & provide a brief overview of what has been happening in our meditations recently. After everyone is done sharing, anyone who has hot-button topics or questions from their own experience might want to share. Others chime in and the conversation goes from there. The goal of PDS is simply to connect like-minded travelers on the exciting & challenging journey inside that deep meditation provides.

Bay Area Pragmatic Dharma Sangha

Bay Area (San Francisco) Pragmatic Dharma Sangha is a spiritual community of peers, supported by Upasaka Nandaka (Chris Gagné). We would be delighted if you joined us in person. We meet most Monday nights and host occasional 1/2 and 1-day retreats. Nandaka is a meditation teacher-in-training who is studying to continue an unbroken, 2500-year-old lineage. He can provide introductory meditation training to most beginners and can refer you to other teachers when you are ready for intermediate and advanced instruction.

Nandaka opens his home in the Dogpatch to anyone who wants to come join us to listen to dharma and meditate. We are happy to have you here, regardless of your spiritual beliefs or background (even a lack thereof). We generally practice śamatha-vipassanā (Tranquility and Insight) meditation in the tradition of Upasaka Culadasa ("The Mind Illuminated"), but you are welcome to practice any silent, stationary meditation style when you are here.

Seattle Pragmatic Dharma Society ('SPuDS')
We are a group of meditators in Seattle of various skill levels who meet regularly to discuss deep practice and the paths to awakening. We study with a variety of teachers and traditions. Our activities are completely peer-led and open to anyone who wishes to share their practice and hear from others.
