Thanks for sharing, Chris.
I don't always enjoy "mindfulness" articles, as they can tend toward the pop-psychology/spirituality of the day. But there's some really good stuff in this one. I like the Chade-Meng Tan quote about thinking of the mind as an ocean. I also appreciated John Tarrant's comment about how awareness is always going on, even when the foreground mind is scattered. Great stuff.

Steve Silberman is a Buddhist practitioner, and I know him through The Well's Buddhism Conference. He's written articles about Chogyam Trungpa and knows Trungpa's wife pretty well. Anyway, more Steve:
