Vipassana without samatha -- "dry?" was created by telecaster
I've heard/read this forever, that practicing vipassana without samatha is considered a "dry" technique because you lack the lubrication that comes from the bliss experienced in concentration practices.
My own experience and the reports of others make me really wonder about this, or at least wonder about how I've been understanding this idea.
Because it seems like vipassana progress produces both rapturous states and some amazing experiences that can keep a yogi very interested and, well, "lubricated."
It's working for me so far.
