Noting the jhanic arc technicalities

Something my mind has been having tendency to do/overdo lately.

The difficulty becomes between doing some analysis of the terrtory and too much analysis to a point of "hmmm...this felt like the tingles, but I also had the body writhing...perspective seems to be expaded, but there's also light...". And loosing oneself in the thoughts of trying to figure it out. Perhaps this is why the noting technique is a skillful and minimalist use of thought, so the mind's preoccupation with analysis does not take away from the experiential angle.

So any pointers regarding appropriate noting of the jhana territory as one experiences it during each sit would be appreciated.

I also realize that to answer my own question the attempt could be to possibly just see/experience what one is a-b-l-e to see/experience at any given moment, since at earlier stages it is just a jumbled mess.

Regardless, chime in if you feel your comment might be helpful.

Metta.
