So THAT, that conversation between Joel and Kenneth, is a perfect example of just how gifted Kenneth Folk is at communicating a coherent, westernized message about the technologies and processes involved in awakening.

Wow.

Totally. And think about how much time has been wasted in arguments between adherents of the different gears! The microcosmic aspect of this in each person's practice is fascinating to me. You can see how some people start at 3rd and move to 1st and vice versa. If you listened to Roger Walsh's interviews with Vince this week, you can see how he went from 1st to 3rd. He came to a place of equanimity after very clearly running into the dukkha nanas while doing intense vipassana practice. He told himself he was over-striving and then got into shikantaza and dzogchen. Kenneth would have been able to explain all of this to him from the get-go! LOL.

It's understandable when people comfortable with traditional forms can become uncomfortable with some of the newer thinking. I thought that perhaps Kenneth might get a warm reception offering training to those who are interested and involved in clinical and therapeutic uses of mindfulness training. (I posted a related link in the learning about money thread.) These kinds of people are much more accustomed to taking a secular view and being professionals Kenneth might find working with them would go a long ways towards developing his professional standing and a commensurate level of income. If clinical professionals employing his methods and techniques find they have a good percentage of positive and replicable outcomes it will do a great deal to support his thinking and approaches more broadly, even amongst more conservative and traditional practitioners.
