Weekly Classes with Kenneth at Rest Stop Rejuvenate

So as you lovely people may have noticed, Kenneth's begun a weekly meditation class at Rest Stop Rejuvenate in Rockaway NJ (check the home page). I first met Kenneth at the talk he gave there a while back, and I can highly recommend the space.

But what some people might not know is how easy it is to get there from NYC. There's a bus that leaves from Port Authority and drops you off a few blocks from RSR (literally an under 5 minute walk) at only $26 round trip. When getting on the bus, just ask the driver to let you know when you're at Rockaway Center.

The class is from 7:00 ~ 8:30, and (for now at least) there's a 5:30 bus that drops you off at 6:40 and a 6:00 bus that drops you off at 7:00.

For more info on the class, check here:

And for more specific directions (or if you're driving), check here:

(there's even a google maps link!)

If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me. Hope to meet as many of you there as possible!

Wow, that is good news indeed. Is Kenneth planning to record these classes (audio) -If so, does anyone attending have the ability to record the classes?

No guarantees, but I'll try and record the talk with my google phone. I've got a 16G SD in there, should work.

And I just scored the loan of a video camera. Ananda 2.0 here we go.

Unfortunately no, I don't have one.

I do know the woman who runs the space, Vicky Mulligan, was trying to record the talk Kenneth gave before, but I don't know how that turned out. Perhaps Kenneth can clue us in, or maybe someone else there will be a little more techno savvy than I am. : )

This looks like it'll be a regular gig, I believe, so I'm sure we can work something out eventually.

Yes, Vicky recorded it on her Mac last time, but I haven't seen the recording yet. Thanks, everybody, for ganging up to get some good recordings. Between the bunch of us, I think we have a good shot at getting something useable this time.

Ian, thanks for the detailed bus info from Port Authority. Excellent!

Wow! I'm jealous. Any chance of a Chicago or Hawaii dharma talk?

Either way, I hope they get posted soon and that there are regular talks online at some point. That would be great. I know some teachers post weekly, biweekly or monthly podcasts of their talks and I think that would be tremendous if it could be worked out.

BTW: isn't the web great for the dharma?

So just to update everyone, the class was great last night, although only a 4 people attended + Kenneth and his wife. We ran through the 4 foundations of mindfulness, then did a bit of the bystander ("see how it...") and ended with an all too brief Q&A session. : )

Also, no luck recording it this time, but there is still hope that this will work out in the future. Stay tuned....

Oh, and one other note. Kenneth had us all doing the noting out loud together. It was like the exact reverse of sitting in a Zendo. Instead of everyone staying quiet to encourage everyone else, everyone was noting out loud to encourage everyone else. It was an interesting experience, let me tell you. : )

Just a reminder for those of you who live in the New York City area: Tuesday night is another chance for us to get some "face time." I'll be leading a class in Rockaway, New Jersey, from 7:00-8:30pm. It's a pleasant, comfortable room (follow the link below to the picture on the home page) and the groups tend to be small, so there is lots of opportunity for Q&A and just hanging out.

I bumped this up for Ryguy. Ryan, the Port Authority bus is a good option. See the head post of this thread. Also, PM IanReclus, who knows the bus routes and attends these classes every week. I hope to see you there! (Note that unlike the initial classes, there is an $18 cover charge for these regular Tuesday sessions.)
