Pa auk sayadaw book was created by obobinde
Hello everyone,
i've just found the book "knowing and seeing" by Pa auk sayadaw for free download. I thought it would be interesting for those interested in the hard dhyanas, because his treatment of the subject is really thorough and he describes also some nice meditations practices on the four elements and how to see the end of materiality ... a lot of juicy stuff
I hope this will benefit people and i'd like to know what those in the higher paths think of it. ( just to be clear, i am not trying to advocate anything like this practice being better than this one or to mess people's mind. )
here is the link:

Wishing you a good practice

Thanks Nicolas,

I will have to check it out when I have some time to experiment. I think the dynamic jhana taught here is a great vehicle for insight, but I do have an interest now that I have some insight in cultivating some hard jhana...

Metta,

Clayton

I am sort of in the same boat, I was never a hard Jhana type guy so mostly I just wanted to see if it would work, and after working with it for a bit I found that the hard Jhana Pa Auk Sayadaw is teaching is indeed as advertised. The breakdown by his students Tina Rassmussen and Steven Snyder "Practicing the Jhanas" was a book I was fully expecting to not get along with, but I'm pleasently surprised to say that I actually found it to be outstandingly accurate in ways that really matter. I haven't read much of what Pa Auk has written so I'll look forward to looking this over. (thanks for the link Nicolas)

I went on retreat with Tina and Steven, and they are really good teachers. This method is extremely useful in developing concentration, and that is useful no matter what. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get jhana (as defined by the Sayadaw). Still, it is worth a try.
