Attainment of 4th path

I was wondering for a while if I would be third path forever, then over a month ago I experienced a lightening blast of energy rush from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head which resulted in what felt like a recoil of the energy down into the heart causing a furious bubbling or effervescent sensation there. I've not been the same since but was reluctant at first to reveal what had happened....I wanted to wait and see. So what has happened is....there is now the distinct absence of the anxiety to make progress or get somewhere anymore....during sitting there is simply the sensation of vast emptiness with no one looking into it...during the day there appears to be no me talking to anyone, just sensations arising and passing away....there is nothing in my head....there is no argument and no position....curiosity remains though as to what else may unfold. What is beautiful is that I now love this as opposed to needing it when I was third path. IT is so radically different....it has nothing to do with spaciousness, it is emptiness. What I love too is the spontaneous emergence of ridiculously powerful compassion...it's like I can see 'me' ideas in relief. All of my relationships have changed and believe it or not....this event has saved my marriage because there is now no one there to fight a corner, an idea or feel disrespected or unloved. Presence is what my wife only ever wanted...and now she has it!! Now all I'm interested in is how deep does the rabbit hole go?

Well, about time Paul! Sounds like the progress you were seeking. Be aware if it was 4th, there seems to be phases to it as you go deeper down the rabbit hole. Fun times! Many different routes to take. Hopefully we'll meet up one day back home for a coffee and chat about how life is weird and wonderful.

Hey Paul, of course its not my (or anyone I think) place to try to give our seal of approval on your attainment. But it does definatly sounds similar to a lot of our experiences. Be aware that if you did get it, you are in the honeymoon phase. As my friend Chris used to always point out, life can still be real painful sometimes. Also your perspective will continue to evolve and deepen. You will probably even go thorugh more dark nights although they will be far different from the ones you have known up till now...
