Formless Jhanas focused below the head

It appears to me that i can move and extend the focus of the formless jhanas from the third eye to the lower chakras. Now, this might have to do with me imagining things, and it might have to do with learning to call up jhanas a little, and being in review. But there does seem to be something there.

Some version of these instructions seem to work for me.
Call up, or enter, the 6th jhana (which seems easiest to tell where it is focused).
Notice how it seems focused at the third eye
Resolve, lightly, to extend it, and allow this movement to happen (i use the throat chakra as the point where i extend it to, at first). What happens here for me, is there being two places that seems to be the center of a 6th jhana. You also seem to be able to move the focus of the jhana, instead of extending it. Nadav, in our recent conversation, seemed to have the experience of the 6th jhana focused on the hara (stomach) chakra).

Current theories: A) this is imaginary. B) The formless jhanas are modes of being which any energy locus (chakra, whatever they are) can enter.

Is this real? can you repeat it? Is it a good idea to do?

Oh, btw. I use the sixth jhana in the above instructions because it seems to be the one with the clearest center.
I haven't been able to become absorbed in the same way in these other formless locii, but it seems to be possible, if one's mind is pliant enough. (at least as long as there's only one focus).
Small warning: this experiment seems to produce some energetic reactions - heat near the chakra similar to kundalini heat in the spine - but that might be peculiar to me. Listening for the ships in the harbor seems to help.

It seems i can make it work to some degree. Hard to move "me" that far down, but i do seem to get some falling-away-into-EE.
It now seems to me that what i describe above doesn't necessarily involve moving "me" around in the same way - it is more having the energy/attention/chakra take on the aspect of the formless jhana. It does seem, from trying, that becoming *absorbed* in that formless chakra aspect would involve moving the me-vibrations there. But my mind is not pliant and still enough for that to work.

Trying to make everything take on the aspect of the 8th jhana, experience is quite powerful. Perhaps i should rather say make all being take on the nature of the 8th jhana.
Throat and especially heart chakra seem unusually active, and there's the kundalini-heat several places in the body. Heartbeats seem to resonate in the body, somehow. I currently interpret said heat as a sign of energy releases beyond what the system can currently handle safely.

This practice might be in the "handle with care" category. Will dial it down a notch until things seem to settle down

Has anyone experienced similar phenomena - the extending/movement of the formless jhanas? Has anyone been able to replicate what i say?

Villum,
Thanks for this thread! Helps me clarify some of my own experiences. Not sure where I am on any maps, and uncertain about which jhanas I have access to, but it sounds like we are having similar experiences. I've managed to move "me" to the centre o the solar plexus(as per thread), but no lower. I don't know what this means map wise, but that's not a real big concern, just glad that I seem to be making progress.

Hey RevElev
I don't know whether the ability to move "me" is an actual sign on progress on the path itself, but it is something that has seemed to develop along the way for me. For me, it seems to indicate a loosening up of the phenomenon of "me"-ness. However, it also seems to be available without insight development, and may in that way be compared to jhana (which can be developed seperately, but also improves along the way).
After investigating further, however, this phenomenon seems seperate from having other parts of the body (or rather, the being/vibratory layer/mental overlay) take on the aspect of the formless jhanas. The latter seems more related to the ability to jump directly to (light versions of) specific jhanas/nanas.
