(thread is about this post)
Hello all, nice site you have got going here, just dropping in to show appreciation after a few hours of browsing the board.
(cut short due to word count limit)
My problem is, I'm a skeptical person, always have been, although very open minded im always weary of peoples claims, I was skeptical when my martial arts teacher told me about pressure points until I learnt them to be true, I was skeptical about creating worlds within ones own mind before I tried meditation and sleep techniques, and now im skeptical about the best place to learn tummo, within the thread listed above, a seemingly kind poster with the user name 'LocoAustriaco' says that books teaching the subject of tummo often do not teach it correctly, I was planning on purchasing some of the books recommended within the thread, mainly 'yoga '“ bliss of inner fire,' magic and 'mysticism within Tibet' and one I found myself called 'clear light of bliss'. What credentials does LocoAustriaco have that these authors do not? Im open to your views because I know just how deluded a lot of information can be on these subjects, it took me a while when first getting into meditation to find a good source 'Patanjali yoga sutras'
Who have you learnt tummo from? Will any of the books I mentioned give me a complete practise? What makes you trust LocoAustriaco so much? No disrespect meant towards LocoAustriaco, I appreciate his efforts and kindness, just trying to figure out which path is the one to take in order to avoid being misled and wasting time like I did with martial arts and meditation during the earlier stages of learning.

The proof is in the pudding, right? Try it and see. If your skepticism doesn't keep you from exploring, it will benefit you. On the other hand, you might find the highest, most revered and remotest source of teaching, and be bamboozled. You won't know until you try. I guess I'm more skeptical of books because I was a "book buddhist" for so long. There is not much expectation for results from books. Here, people expect results. So, I start here.
I can't vouch for anyone here, and I'm brand new to tummo, but I trust this community in general. Some accomplished yogis have followed the thread and nobody is calling shenanigans so far.
Also, there is a tradition here of sharing effective practices openly. If I have to fly to Asia or even Europe to learn something, I may never learn it. Yet I have all these teachings at my fingertips. I only need apply them.
(I invoke the 10,000 disclaimers.)

Jello KionKhan,
A few points:
The technique Loco shared is a traditional technique that you can find under the name of Maha Bandha in the Hindu tradition.
I did a 5 day Tummo retreat with Tulku Lama Lobsang, and the main technique was the exact same (although instead of uddiyana bandha they did vase breathing, which feels wrong to me and Loco advises against - but it is pretty much the same anyway).
The most complete published book on tummo probably is Lama Yeshe's bliss of inner fire (There he tells you to do vase breathing instead of uddiyana bandha, so do whichever feels better or brings better results). Also, Loco says that in 'clear light of bliss' you'll get more explanations of more advanced stuff.
My advice is, just give it a go, or try it for a week or a month. Of course online you'll find a lot of funky claims about energy work, but what's most interesting is that, in fact, the funkiest claims are found in traditional literature.
Keep us updated!
