Reading the Pali Canon was created by apperception
I've become interested in reading the Pali Canon, and to that end, I ordered this book from Amazon:

www.amazon.com/dp/0812975235/ref=pe_1751...1760_M2T1_SC_3p_dp_1

I was just going to read through it and read the commentaries. I was wondering if anyone else was interested in reading along and discussing as it relates to practice, perhaps over Skype or Google+.

Keen. I have this book on my shelf, but haven't spent a lot of time with it yet. Depending on how we get on with it, perhaps we could make it a regular thing and start on the Middle Length Discourses after a while?

Since I am in the UK, a GMT friendly time would be nice if possible. 6pm New York time is 10pm London time at the moment, so perhaps that could work?

Excellent. We can pretend to be John Peacock ;)

I could do next Thursday if you want to get started right away.

I got a lot more out of reading the DN than the MN. The suttas in the DN tend to be of larger scope, and connect various aspects of the Buddha's teaching together in a way that is often lacking in the MN.

I found they gave me a much clearer idea of what he was on about then the MN, where it was often harder to fit what was being said into a larger context.

I assume your British accent is better than mine.

Thursday should be okay - unless the book takes a really long time to get here, in which case I'll let you know.
