Hi, All.
I'm a zen practitioner (zazen with koan/question 'who am I?' at present). I've been sitting twice daily for several years, but don't have much dharma stuff happening locally, so I don't have much access to teachers.
I suppose I'm interested in how zen/buddhist practice can be brought off the cushion into everyday life, and how it can help with difficult emotions and situations.
All the best,
Harry.

Hi.
Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but you could always keep going with the essence of the "who am I" stuff off the cushion, which would be what we would call a 2nd gear practice.
I guess you could also do that with emotions, like "to whom is this emotion happening?" But a lot of people here when faced with difficult situations would do the vipassana thing and break the experience down into the raw sensations, i.e. "downshift" into 1st gear.

Thanks for the info, Eric.
Yes, that hua tou/ wato-type practice strikes me as being good; I'm trying recently to bring the question into my days and nights more.
I suppose I feel I've hit a bit of a plateau in my practice, and that it's time to shake things up a bit again. I'm reading through some of the info on the site here and am enjoying it's directness and practicality.
