I transcribed the Hurricane Ranch February 2009 discussion between Daniel Ingram, Hokai Sobol, Kenneth Folk, Tarin Greco, and Vince Horn. This discussion might interest people for a number of reasons:

1. There is a lot of valuable information here on the third and fourth paths, from the points of view of both development and realization. Since some people here are in that territory: Heads Up!

2. It's a snapshot in the development of Kenneth's and Daniel's thoughts on the subject of Getting It Done.

3. It's a snapshot in the development of pragmatic dharma. Hopefully I managed to preserve the color of everyone's personality in the transcription.

4. There's some interesting information in here on how stages are understood from within Shingon.

It's also nice being able to search this discussion without having to listen to the whole damn thing.

Good work man! I love this talk, especially how Hokai talks about Shingon. It is very interesting how most traditions, in a way, end up in the same place. Just different ways to get there. I like how he talks about giving awareness a symbolic form instead of just trying to turn attention to conciousness or awareness.

Thanks for doing this. I could never really get into listening to the recording and trying to sort out all the voices. The transcript is a great read, though. Lots of gold in here. Hercules in the stables.... Interesting that they talk about 10-15 years as a good range for "getting it done." How did that change?

Aquanin: I used to think Vajrayana was spooky. I still think it's spooky, but I'm coming to see some of its advantages over Theravada.

I'm amazed that this was done. It must have been a labor of love. Very, very nice, and very much appreciated!

Is this something that would be valuable to have on KFD? I can't post it on the discussion board, but it seems like longer documents can be added as articles to the frame on the left.

And yes, very much a labor of love. I think transcribing Daniel Ingram ought to be worth having eight cycles through dukkha ñanas shaved off my path to Arhatship. Just let me know who to submit the expense report to.

Contact Kenneth and ask him if you can post the transcripts here. It's all up to The Man.

Thanks so much for transcribing this, Jim. What an enormous amount of work that must have been.

I just posted the transcript here:
