It's Not A Stream of Consciousness was created by Andy
From a New York Times article, referring to an upcoming research paper;
"What this means is that the brain samples the world in rhythmic pulses, perhaps even discrete time chunks, much like the individual frames of a movie. From the brain’s perspective, experience is not continuous but quantized."

From an experienced vipassana meditator's POV this is no surprise. It's pretty clear when we look deeply that our experience is not smooth but choppy, sometimes grossly so, sometimes finely. Maybe "objective" science is slowly catching up to introspective investigation
