Tuesday Night Virtual Sangha on KFD

Hi Gang,

Let's start a new tradition: Beginning July 12th, 2011, let's have a virtual sangha on Tuesday nights. I'll host a Skype video conference from 8:00pm to 9:00pm EDT (New York time). We'll have time for Q&A (whatever meditation questions are on your mind), discussion, and just getting to know one another. We'll keep the agenda loose for now and see what develops.

I'll record the audio for later download, so think of it as a podcast or a radio show; we are all in public during the meeting and our participation implies our consent to publish the recording.

Limited to ten people (Skype's limit). If you want to attend on any given Tuesday, sign up on this thread. If I don't already have your Skype name, make sure I have it (click on my photo at left and send me a private message) so I can call you and the others at the appointed time.

Yes, ten video feeds. It's pretty cool. Whoever is talking gets to be a little bigger than the others on the screen.

(At least Skype promo says it can handle ten. I've never done more than 5.)

Yes, for the time being we aren't scheduling any more NYC meetings. I thought it would be nice to open up the Tuesday night sessions to everyone since most people in our online community can't make it to the city very often if at all. That's not to rule out local NYC meetings, of course, but just to put them on the back burner for awhile.

Awesome! BTW, a friend of mine who has a popular sports blog/podcast highly recommends a site called TalkShoe. Apparently it's super-easy to set up a podcast via this site, which will also list the podcast for you on iTunes. It's basically a live, call-in format where you preschedule the time, which hints at the possibility of KFD Radio...

This is new but may also be useful if skype seems to be working poorly..

OK, so far we've got John, Oliver, maybe Nadav, and me. Anybody else want to play on Tuesday? (John, make sure you don't use the laptop with the noisy fan! Or if you do, use a headset mic so the fan doesn't drown out the rest of us.

In fact, it would be great if everyone used some kind of earphones or headset to prevent feedback and echoing, which can be distracting on Skype, especially when a lot of people get together on one call. And one last thing: skype videoconferencing only works if everyone has the latest version of skype, so be sure to upgrade before Tuesday.

I'll seek 'approval from HQ' later today and let you know. I really want to be on the call. Just need to make sure my wife is cool with getting the kids to bed, etc., as I'll be out on both Monday and Wednesday nights this week. Thanks!

I will most likely have a very lousy internet connection and only an ipad onTuesday, but if there is a free slot when it starts i can at least make a try.
