wow - great! I see also how the continous effort 'did you in' so to speak. I will also have to go back and read what tommy told Yadid about the 11th...

Great to have this inspiration.

It seems as if I hit might have gotten 4th path. In order to be sure, however, I really need to give it time and see if this feeling of being done sticks around.

Yesterday I met with Kenneth and we talked about direct mode. There were a few things I wasn't getting exactly and so my practice before was a bit hit or miss.

The instructions we went through yesterday are as follows.

1. Take the whole body as a single chunk.
2. Notice how there are points of tension / imbalanced energy in the body (keep the attention as it was in 1)
3. Holding the whole body in attention cause the energy to balance out
4. Eventually the energy will pool up at the hara (picture the energy like a puff of smoke in reverse, retracting back to one point)
5. Between the sex organs and hara (slightly deeper in the body) is a point where there's no tension - Tarin talked about this on the DHO. Allow the energy to drain off at that point like water going down a drain.

This practice is quite neat.

Congratulations and thanks again for all the help and great discussion at the voxli KFD chat room yesterday.

By the way, that's at voxli.com/kfdchat for all those who haven't been there yet.

Heavy proud of you mate, I really don't think that the done-ness is going anywhere and you've worked your arse off to get there. Your epic thread stands as an inspiration to everyone serious about this and it's a resource in itself for those looking to see what this journey actually entails. I'd be honoured if you'd be my first collaborator in Down to Earth Dharma, I'm off work tomorrow so I'll drop you a line and we'll sort something out if you're up for it.

Congrats again and kudos for going public with this.

Big love brother.

Thanks everyone. Still mainly doing direct mode. Enjoying things lately.

What we call "world" is only an opinion.... Take away your opinion, your condition, situation'”then your mind is clear like space... clear like a mirror. A mirror reflects everything: The sky is blue, tree is green, sugar is sweet. Just be one with truth'”that's Zen style. If your mind is clear like space, then you see clearly, hear clearly, smell clearly'”everything is clear. That is dharma. That is truth.

Bhikkhu Bodhi, a monk of the Theravada tradition, further explains the concept of mindfulness as follows:[53]

The mind is deliberately kept at the level of bare attention, a detached observation of what is happening within us and around us in the present moment. In the practice of right mindfulness the mind is trained to remain in the present, open, quiet, and alert, contemplating the present event. All judgments and interpretations have to be suspended, or if they occur, just registered and dropped.

Great Job, Jayson!!!

Congrats on a job well done, man! Fully enjoy the honeymoon period of attaining to 4th path, and get ready to use that tool to fully and permanently eradicate suffering (of course, if that is still your final goal) :-)

With metta,

your boy, Jorge Freddy!

"Any protips on permanently eradicating suffering?"

What has been working for me (so far):
During practice (Sitting):
-I move up quickly through the jhanas (lately, I skip all the way to the 8th one). I base my investigation on the subtle "consciousness" left after the "no perception" part of the 8th jhanas settles in (it flickers in and out for a while, until it eventually solidifies). There seems to be something right before NS which is quite luminous. The late venerable Maha Boowa called this the "original citta". Per his practice, I look for the development of "paññā", which is pure self-manifesting wisdom, which is processed by the aggregates shortly after its manifestation (if you quickly step out of the 8th jhana, you can actually examine the aggregates giving shape to it).

-During the day (which is practice, but differently): note the relations between whatever manifest in the present and how it is although they may be interconnected they do not possees "self".
-Noting the manifestation of either any element that derives from the "Self" or any element that combined with other ones may lead to the manifestation of the idea of "self".
-Using the rest of the eightfold path as a way to act as a "overload factor" (sorry for the engineering term) to help the karmic nature of Jorge Freddy make decisions that lead to lessening and eventually permanently eradicating avijjia.

Wow, thanks for explaning Boowa's practice by putting it within the maps. I've read his biography a couple of times as inspiration and didn't pick up on those details. It makes a lot of sense. I'm so glad. It can be confusing to hear different practices and not have a sense of how it maps out. Thanks again!

(This is something for me to file away, I'm not close to that level of practice yet.)

I'm continuing with direct mode practice. I'm noticing a real levelling off of emotions on a mindstate level. There's a real sense of equanimity, and the body seems to be reacting less and less over time. I'm also noticing an increase in sensuousness in my experience which is always welcome.

There's a huge difference between the few moments when I wake up and have to go to work and the rest of the day when I remember to tune back into direct mode.

It also seems to be becoming more and more automatic.
